Proud to care Somerset Launch event

Proud to care Somerset Launch event

We were at The Proud to Care Somerset launch this week, and what a fabulous event it was.

Mr Paul Coles, who is the Quality Assurance manager of adult social care, welcomed us. He was so passionate about Care and the people who work in care that I knew we were set for an interesting day. We where then greeted by Holly Stockdale, who along with her team have put considerable effort into relaunch ing the Proud To Care Somerset website. The site originally was quite basic but now you can find loads of information about different providers, careers in Care at each provider and all about the Proud to care ambassador roles.

It is such a fantastic way to reach out in your local community, advising individuals to make carer decisions. The PTC ambassadors deliver talks and activities promoting social care to young and old. We are looking into the opportunities that Proud to care Somerset would offer our carers and clients.

Not only did we hear all about proud to care but we also heard from The Jobcentre, they offer loads of resources so that we can reach out to potential applicants. I think Emma will be spending quite a bit of time chatting to those guys.

The most exciting moment of the event, had to be when Care Wyvern was mentioned and Jill’s wonderful blog post popped up on the screen. I have to tell you, I felt so proud. Care Wyvern was one of the very first providers to become involved in the original Proud to care Somerset website, Jill being the first added to the real life story on the site.

In the afternoon, we had the opportunity to meet potential applicants and those who are interested in pursuing a career in care. Emma met several people who shared our passion for care, and showed real compassion for those who needed or wanted support and care.

Care wyvern at Proud to Care somersetWe are really looking forward to working with Proud to Care Somerset and being involved in celebrating those involved in care and promoting how a career in social care is incredibly rewarding.

Care Wyvern… So much more than a job
